Igor Juršič, born in 1973, joined the Police in 1992 as a police officer of the Traffic Police Station Novo mesto. He worked in the units of the Police Directorate Novo mesto as a police officer and Head of a Police Patrol until 2009 and one year as the Assistant head of the shift in the Novo mesto Operations and Communications Centre.

In 2010, he joined the Internal Affairs Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia at the Ministry of the Interior, where he was in charge of the most demanding security tasks involved in inspection controls under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior.

He re-joined the police in 2021, by entering the Service of the Director General of the Police. He was entrusted with the tasks of strategic planning and police guidelines as well as cooperation with institutions including the Ombudsman, the Information Commissioner, the State Attorney's Office, etc. He also performed the tasks of the access to public information officer.

He was awarded the Bronze Badge of the Ministry of the Interior and the Silver Shield of the Police.

Igor Juršič was appointed Head of the Police Directorate Novo mesto on 10 July 2023.
